CFMOTO Vehicle Safety

Ride and drive safely, and look after the people who share the adventure.

Safety guidelines for your CFMOTO

Your safety matters to us. Whether you ride a motorcycle or drive an ATV, UTV or SSV, the biggest safety factors are in your hands: how you prepare, what you wear, and how you ride. Take a few minutes to read the points below, and read your owner's manual before your first ride — and again from time to time.

Your authorised CFMOTO dealer can answer questions about safe operation, and can explain the controls and features of your vehicle when you collect it.

The important stuff

Take a rider or driver training course

Formal, hands-on training teaches skills that are hard to learn by trial and error — braking, cornering, handling uneven terrain and responding to emergencies. It is especially valuable if you are new to riding or driving, or new to a particular type of vehicle. Ask your dealer about training options available in your area.

Always wear protective gear, especially a helmet

A properly fitted, approved helmet is the single most important piece of protective gear and can greatly reduce the severity of head injuries. In addition, wear eye protection, gloves, sturdy over-the-ankle boots, long pants and a long-sleeved jacket or shirt to protect against cuts, abrasions and impacts. Replace a helmet after any significant impact.

Passengers: only where the vehicle is designed for them

Most ATVs are designed for a single rider and are not suitable for passengers. Riding or driving with a passenger on a vehicle that is not designed for one affects balance and control. For vehicles that do have passenger seats, make sure every passenger can sit properly, reach the handholds and footrests, and uses the seat belts and restraints provided.

Match the vehicle to the rider — age and size

Vehicles are designed for riders of a particular size, strength and experience. Never let a child ride or drive a vehicle that is too large or powerful for them, and always supervise young riders. Check the age and size guidance in your owner's manual.

Never ride or drive after alcohol or drugs

Alcohol, drugs and some medicines slow your reactions and affect your judgement and balance. Do not ride or drive if you have been drinking or taking anything that may affect you, and do not let others do so either.

Ride within your limits and the conditions

Adjust your speed to the terrain, weather, visibility and your own experience. Avoid riding alone in remote areas where you can, tell someone where you are going, and take care on unfamiliar ground, steep slopes, loose surfaces, and near water or traffic.

Keep your vehicle well maintained

Follow the service schedule in your owner's manual so that brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights and other key components are inspected at the recommended intervals. Do a quick check before each ride, and have any problem looked at by an authorised dealer before you ride again. You can view your vehicle's records under Service History.

Know the law where you ride

Laws and rules about helmets, licences, registration and where vehicles may be used differ between roads, public land and private property. Make sure you know and follow the rules that apply to your vehicle and where you ride it.

Stay up to date with recalls and bulletins

From time to time CFMOTO issues recalls or service bulletins for certain models. Check the Unit Recalls page to see whether one applies to your vehicle, and contact your dealer if it does.
